SOGI
THE RAINBOW PROJECT
The Rainbow Club was started in 2016, an initiative of students and teachers. Our goal is to promote inclusion of EVERYONE, no matter of your gender identity or sexual orientation. We all need to work together to end discrimination and to make sure it stops in our community.
Our first initiative, in 2017, of the Rainbow Club was painting 2 rainbow crosswalks at FSS, and 4 in our downtown, although the paint unfortunately wore off throughout the season.
In 2018, we worked with École Isabella Dickens Elementary School (EIDES) to paint their crosswalk and several students presented to each class on the topic of inclusivity. We also painted the main staircase in FSS.
For our newest project, we're selling toques ($15.00 each) and ballcaps ($20.00 each), to further inclusion in our community. Our profits will go towards supporting LGBTQ community, allies and especially youth in Fernie.
